FRUITY CHIA FRESCA

This is a Mostly Whole (MW) Recipe

Beth says: So many typical American beverges are loaded with sugars of various types. Remember, sugar is sugar is sugar when it is extracted from its whole food source - whether it's white sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, agave nectar, or even fruit juice. To improve your health, elimination or a drastic reduction of refined carbohydrates (that includes sugar) is an absolute necessity. Many folks have done it, some are still working on it, and YOU can as well! Why not get started today?

  • 1 fruity-flavored herbal teabag
  • Large mug full of boiling water
  • Stevia, to taste
  • 2 Tbsp whole chia seeds

Let teabag steep in a mug of hot water until the water comes to almost room temperature. Remove teabag, squeezing it to get more flavor into the water. Sweeten tea with stevia, to taste. Pour into a water bottle or drinking glass and add the chia seeds. Add lid and shake to mix the chia with the tea, or stir the tea if you are using a drinking glass. Let sit at least 15 minutes before sipping on the Fresca to give the beverage a chance to thicken up a bit. Refrigerate to chill before serving, if you wish. This sugar-free, refreshing beverage is also filling because of its soluble fiber from the chia seeds.
